    Default Query on price

Hello all, I post this to ask your advice.
    I have a '94 TS Magna Executive 3 ltr V6 wagon, 5 speed manual.
My wife died 3 weeks ago, I can not afford to have two cars now, so the Magna has to go.
I want to list it's condition etc and get your opinion on how much I could expect to get for it.
It's paint is very good, no rust anywhere, no dents.
    Air-con works just fine.
    I've spent a considerable amount bringing her up to scratch;
New muffler, 4 new tyres, new headlining, new plug leads, plugs, dist cap, rotor button..
    goes like a dream.
Have changed all oils, filters etc.
    Overall, very clean and tidy.
I will renew it's rego in January 2017.
    I was thinking $4500 ?
I would sincerely appreciate your opinions

    Sincere condolences for your loss.

$4500 will get a nice late 3rd gen (97-05) wagon.
With respect, a clean TS with plenty of rego is worth $3000 at the very most, unfortunately.
I'd advertise for $3500 but be prepared to accept much less.

G'day magna buff, I had a look at the carsales link .... shit eh!
If it's really worth virtually nothing I might as well hang onto it, keep the Falcon in the shed.
And many thanks for the kind thoughts, from both of you.
She went thru hell for two years, but now she's out of it. No more suffering.
Bloody hard to handle though, we were together for 53 years.

    Hi Terry,

First off so sorry to hear about your wife - 53 years together is incredible!

I feel you have a rare (in a good way) combination - wagon, V6 and manual. If it has ABS and driver's air bag then that would top the list too. I guess it will come down to the overall condition (ie if it has paint fade, interior wear etc). How many kms has it travelled?

In VIC, there is a '96 TS Verada V6 5spd (supposedly export model, has Euro style headlamp squirters, rear fog lamp) listed for $5000 but I can no longer find the advert so perhaps it did sell, but who knows how much for?

G'day fuel, firstly, thanks for the reply and your kind words. Yeah, 53 years, got one hell of a hole in my life now.

The Magna has only 219K klms on it. My later model Falcon has more!
The paintwork is very good, no fading, no peeling & very shiny, but obviously has a few marks, it is 22 years old.
It's the paupers pack version, no ABS, no airbags, and if you want the windows to move, you have to crank the handle!
The interior is good overall (that's the reason I bought it in the first place), the only damage is in the cargo section, looks like a mower was in there & not tied down.
Nothing serious, just a couple of plastic bits cracked.
It's previous owner looked after it inside and out, but was not mechanically inclined.
It ran like a dog when I bought it two years ago, but a good service and tlc sorted that out easily enough.

I don't want to sell it, but I've now lost $445 per fortnight, so I expect things to get tough.
Household expenses will remain the same!
Anyway mate, that's my reason for the post. I wanted to talk to people who know before I advertise it and get all the "experts" telling me otherwise.
    Thanks for the help
    Terry

I think someone would definitely be interested and it will most likely be a Magna fan who would buy it - unfortunately a 20+ year old Magna doesn't stack up well against the more newer cars which can be had for little money these days (I just bought an '05 LS Focus hatch for $1700, and an '06 VE Commodore Omega for $2750 but both have small issues which need seeing to).

I would think $2000-2500 with rego would be about right for a relatively quick sale. I feel at $3000+ it may take months to go.

Well, I made a decision today.
The reason I have a second car is for use here around Cessnock, mostly short trips.
The Falcon requires at least 20K before it warms up, so I use the Magna, although with Barb's cancer it was running into Newcastle quite often (about 50K).

I rang the RTA today, it will cost me around $300 more per year for rego, but that means the Falcon can stay in the shed.
I must tell you, the Falcon is set up to tow the caravan, bigger brakes, heavier suspension, txion oil cooler etc.

So I have decided to keep the Magna, although it's a shit of a thing to work on, it is reliable, goes like the clappers, and looks good.
Being a wagon comes in handy at times too.

I'd like to thank those who replied to my query, I truly appreciate the help.
Bottom line; it owes me $3500, I will not part with it for less.
